My Makeup Essentials for Summer 2024
Hello, ladies! How is your summer going? Mine is really, really hot! And do you know what I hate doing in the summer? Going crazy with make up! But still, we need to show that we can make an effort on our appearance when we go out, right?
In the summer, I avoid using too many makeup products, because, apart from the fact that I can’t tolerate all this add-on material on my skin, I also find it ugly and really messing up with my sense of harmony and symmetry; on the one hand, we dress our body as lightly as possible, but, on the other hand, we paint our face as heavily as possible. I just don’t understand why our faces are not allowed to breathe in the summer like our bodies. Do you see the assymetry now?
Every time I get ready to go out I feel unable to apply too many products. It feels disharmonious and I feel too hot even during application. So, this summer I am trying to perfect a natural but light look. It still shows that I’ve made an effort, but it matches the effort to wear light clothing too. So, these are the products that I normally use this summer.

Concealer. Like all ladies, I have imperfections too. So, my concealer is an item I can’t go without. I depend on it to cover my (very) dark circles. I recently bought Maybeline Fit Me! liquid concealer and I can say it’s the first concealer that I have been pleased with in my whole life! I don’t need to put any corrector underneath, I just apply a thin layer of the product with the applicator and work it with my fingers. It covers the problematic spot by itself and for many hours!
CC cream. This is my go-to face-covering product all year round. Most CC creams have a high SPF, which makes them perfect for the summer! The CC cream that I like is CLINIQUE SUPERDEFENCE CC CREAM for its anti-ageing and hydrating properties, as well as its SFP30. I apply dot-sized quantities on my forehead, nose, cheeks and chin and blend them with my fingers. I make sure that the shade matches my skin tone perfectly, so that I don’t have to apply it anywhere else! Now I also have a nice canvas for the rest of my makeup too.
Blush. I can’t go without blush in the summer, as it enhances my sunkissed face. I go with peach shades, which match the job that the sun has already done to my cheeks. I apply a tiny quantity on both my cheek bones starting from the very front and finishing by my eye’s outside corner, gradually erasing it. This way, I “lift” my cheeks while I provide my face with a sense of freshness. The blush I use currently is Lancome Blush Subtil , while just yesterday I also bought MUA Makeup Academy BLUSHED Liquid Blush Cream in the lovely shade of Dusky Rose. In case you are wondering, yes, I use my fingers to apply my blush too.
Mascara. A good black mascara is a must for me when I want to go light on my makeup, because if the mascara is good, it can make a big difference. My go-to mascara is Oriflame OnColour, which helps me separate, enrich and elongate my eyelashes. I apply one layer on each set of my eyelashes and have a dramatic look that lasts for hours withour even using a lash curler.
Nude-coloured lipsticks. I have a variety of nude lipsticks, including rose, caramel and completely nude shades. I avoid lip liners, because I hate how they look on my naked lips when my lipstick is gone.
Lipglosses. I prefer sticky, clear lipglosses which I apply at the centre of my lips. This way I give them some volume, whereas my lipstick stays on for longer. I buy them in tube packaging like this one here and apply a small quantity each time.
Monochromatic, nude eyeshadows. When I go out at night, I like using a light, monochromatic eyeshadow. I prefer beige, dusty pink and, sometimes, gold. I apply it evenly on my mobile eyelids using my fingers for a soft, effortless result.
It’s hard to make an effort when it is so hot in the summer! But keeping it simple and light can help us shine despite the discomfort!
